População de Antônio Pereira realiza caminhada pela paz e defesa dos atingidos pela mineração.
Paz e mineração foram os temas de uma caminhada realizada na última terça-feira, (15/08), em Antônio Pereira, distrito de Ouro Preto/MG. A concentração do evento ocorreu ao lado da Igreja Nossa Senhora das Mercês (Igreja Matriz). Em seguida, os participantes seguiram em caminhada até o Santuário de Nossa Senhora da Lapa, em que ocorreu uma celebração religiosa.
O evento intitulado “Caminhada pela paz e em defesa dos atingidos pela mineração” é uma iniciativa popular do Movimento Antônio Pereira, do Mulheres Guerreiras e da Associação dos Garimpeiros de Antônio Pereira, além de contar com o apoio do Instituto Guaicuy, que atua como Assessoria Técnica Independente das pessoas atingidas pela Barragem Doutor.
A caminhada traz como um dos principais pontos de reflexão a luta dos moradores e moradoras do distrito por reparação dos danos físicos, psicológicos e materiais causados pelas obras de descomissionamento e descaracterização da barragem. Outro tema abordado durante o evento é a violência que atinge o território.
