Nos últimos dias estamos acompanhando os casos de intoxicação alimentar que vem afetando alguns cães em Belo Horizonte-MG. É importante que seja reforçado que os episódios ainda estão em fase de investigação pela Polícia Civil, mas a suspeita é de intoxicação alimentar. De acordo com o último laudo da PC-MG, divulgado na sexta-feira dia 02 de setembro, foram encontradas substâncias tóxicas em alguns petiscos para cachorros, que foram entregues à polícia por tutores.
A substância em questão é o monoetilenoglicol, um composto químico utilizado como anticongelante automotivo e que é extremamente tóxico, devendo o paciente ser tratado com urgência, caso tenha sido ingerido. Outros dados da Polícia Civil ainda não foram divulgados, pois os episódios ainda estão em fase investigativa.
Em tempo, a Câmara Municipal de Mariana-MG encontra-se hoje, dia 05 de setembro, na Comissão de Proteção e Defesa dos Animais, a partir das 14 horas, para falar sobre intoxicação e envenenamento.
A médica veterinária Georgia Mazur, da Clínica Veterinária Habitat, abordará sobre os sintomas, os principais agentes intoxicantes e o que fazer quando se deparar com tais intoxicações e envenenamento.
