O Ministério Público de Minas Gerais (MPMG) e o Ministério Público Federal (MPF) estabeleceram, nesta quinta-feira (25/08), um novo prazo para empresas apresentarem laudos que atestem a segurança e a estabilidade de quase 90 barragens da Vale no estado.
A partir de agora, as equipes têm um prazo de 60 dias, prorrogáveis por mais 90 dias, para elaborar os documentos e encaminhar tanto à mineradora quanto aos ministérios públicos estadual e federal.
Esses documentos devem ser elaborados por auditorias técnicas independentes, contratadas pela mineradora, e entregues aos órgãos ambientais e também aos ministérios públicos.
As autoridades verificaram que, mesmo depois de dois anos após o rompimento da barragem em Brumadinho e de outras prorrogações, ainda havia atrasos para a entrega desses relatórios.

"A Vale formalizou, na quinta-feira (25/08), um aditivo aos Termos de Compromisso de segurança de barragens firmados em 2019, que aumenta a transparência e a segurança no acompanhamento das condições das suas barragens. O Acordo, firmado com os Ministérios Públicos Federal e Estadual, Estado de Minas Gerais e Fundação Estadual do Meio Ambiente (Feam), incorpora os aprendizados dos últimos três anos, no sentido de tornar a gestão das estruturas mais eficiente e aproximar os órgãos técnicos do acompanhamento das medidas de segurança que vêm sendo adotadas nas barragens da empresa.
Com o aditivo, o processo seguirá as mesmas regras e o fluxo estabelecido no Termo de Compromisso Descaracterização, firmado em fevereiro de 2022, incluindo barragens que não tenham sido construídas a montante, tornando mais robusta a publicidade e a segurança no acompanhamento dessas estruturas. Esta alteração permitirá o acompanhamento mais específico e contínuo das estruturas pelos órgãos reguladores."
